Spalding has a remarkable history and prescriptive market rights are believed to have been originally granted by Royal Charter. Modern Spalding has a thriving town centre with a mix of independent and major national outlets.
On the outskirts of Spalding is the Springfields Outlet Shopping and Festival Gardens, home to many outlet stores and landscaped festival gardens. A Water Taxi links the Town Centre and Springfields.
The town comes alive for the famous Spalding Flower Parade each May, attracting around 100,000 visitors each year to see spring flower heads decorating a procession of carnival floats, as they make their way through the streets and along the riverbank.
